  • Registration/Check-In: Set a time for participants to register and pay entry fees. Include a welcome table with FFA info.

  • Practice/Warm-Up Roping: Offer a practice arena before the main event starts for beginners and youth divisions.

  • Competition Runs: Organize timed rounds for different skill levels (e.g., youth, beginner, advanced).

  • Awards Ceremony: Plan for prizes for winners and honorable mentions (could be trophies, ribbons, or cash).

  • Educational Demonstration: Include a short demo on roping techniques, livestock care, or agricultural safety. 

  • Student Committees: Assign students to manage concessions, ticket sales, parking, safety, and arena setup.

  • Volunteer Helpers: Invite community members and alumni to assist with supervision, announcements, and prize distribution.

  • Livestock Handlers: Ensure a team is assigned to handle steers safely and humanely throughout the event.

  • Sponsors & Donations: Include local ag businesses for sponsorships, prize contributions, or event support.

  • Advertising: Flyers, social media posts, and school announcements to boost attendance and awareness.

  • Family-Friendly Activities: Add side activities like dummy roping for kids, food trucks, or FFA merchandise sales.

  • Arena Setup: Barriers, roping chutes, timers, and a PA system for announcements.

  • Medical/Safety: First aid station and clearly posted rules for participants.

  • Livestock Welfare: Water, shade, and humane handling procedures for all animals. 

  • Entry Fees: Include options for single runs or full jackpots.

  • Concessions & Merchandise: Sell food, drinks, or FFA gear to raise additional funds.
